Aquacise is water exercise, a light to moderate aerobic workout in shallow water. We have three separate classes — MWF morning, Tue/Thu morning and Tue/Thu evening — available for people to enjoy. This program can increase cardiovascular endurance, core strength and flexibility. Aquatic exercise benefits everyone but especially those with joint-mobility deficits and/or those compromised with land-exercise challenges.

My name is Linda, and I am teaching the water aerobics classes at Pallottine Renewal Center. I have been a part of the water-aerobics classes at Pallottine since 2006 and have been teaching the class since 2008. We stopped classes because of the pandemic but are now back at it! Each class participant is free to work as their own body dictates. I invite anyone who would like to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health to join us.

I’m a lifelong North County girl and happy to be part of the Pallottine team! I retired this past fall after 24 years at Russo’s Catering. My husband, Don, and I have three daughters and six grandchildren. We will work at a pace that is easily adjusted to your own level of comfort as you enjoy your time in the terrific pool at Pallottine … together building stronger bodies, minds and spirits.

Pallottine is offering a series of water confidence and skill-building classes that go beyond technique. Through interactive in-water experiences, participants are invited to discover ease, safety, and joy in the water. In keeping with our mission of nurturing body, mind, and spirit, these sessions foster confidence, connection, and well-being—helping each person feel supported as they grow in both skill and trust. We are excited to empower adults to feel safe and strong in the water.

Bio Ayanna Rakhu: Ayanna
Rakhu, Ph.D. started swimming lessons when she was six before later swimming competitively. She has held several different positions in aquatics as a certified USA Swimming Coach. Her doctoral research is focused on swimming, specifically how to encourage African American mothers to swim, which would hopefully inspire their children to swim too. She is the founder of Sankofo Swim International – building aquatic training programs dedicated to reducing drowning incidents and increasing swim participation in diverse communities.

YOUTH Swim Lessons offered at Pallottine in collaboration with Safer Waters in Memory of Nicholas (d/b/a SWIM ON Foundation), a 501(c)3 organization. British Swim School, the swim class lesson provider for Swim on Foundation, uses the Pallottine pool for community swim lessons for children.
