We need not be in church, nor traveling to a far-off religious mecca to be standing on holy ground. This is not a place reserved only for priests, or ministers, or the most pious. Holy ground is simply the place where we stand, in the here and now, in an intimate relationship with God. He beckons us to share our lives with Him, the struggles, the joys, the everyday and the ordinary.
The truth is our Father just wants to spend time with us, wants us to be close and familiar, trusting Him like an old friend, with our deepest fears, our greatest hopes. He expects to see us vulnerable, and when we have this kind of cherished friendship, He knows best what we need and how to give it to us. It is a relationship built on sure and steady confidence in each other. We give our hearts to the God who loves us unconditionally, and we trust that He hears us and answers our prayers, according to His divine will.
Let us keep the conversation honest and frequent with God. Throughout our days, share with Him everything our hearts are carrying: the insignificant details, the moments that make us smile, the worries that keep us up at night. An intimate relationship with our Father is what sustains us, and in these times when we call on Him, we stand together on Holy Ground.
