“Holy silence prepares us for prayer. Prayer and silence lead us to intimate union with God. Whoever does not love silence and prayer will indeed not have an intimate union with God.”
St. Vincent Pallotti
Our lives are busy and noisy, and are often spent in a perpetual state of rushing. In the midst of all this frenzy, how can we possibly hear God’s voice and recognize His holy will for our lives? The only way to really have an intimate relationship with our Lord is to carve out moments of stillness in our day where we can sit quietly in prayer. Prayer is our lifeline: our hands reaching out to the Father who protects us. God expects us to share all of our hopes, fears and triumphs with Him, and He wants us to trust that He is always listening. As we pray, we learn to rely on the God who answers.
God beckons us to create a holy space in our hearts just for Him. Set apart an hour, or even ten minutes for prayer and solitude, and it is here where you will find Him, framed in the sacred and silent moments of time.
