St. Vincent believed that the Catholic Apostolate should be like a trumpet for the gospel, calling and inviting all to work together for the deepening and spreading of charity and the Catholic faith. Each of us is invited and called by God to be His apostles, and we must proclaim, through word and deed, that we have said yes to His calling.
And yet, in the midst of social pressures and material desires, how loud are our voices? Do we sometimes stay silent, in the face of injustice, when we know our faith demands we do otherwise? Are we vocal in our criticism of a priest, or fellow parishioner, or policy when we should have remained silent? We must always measure our actions and words by God’s standards. As apostles of Jesus, we must join as one band of believers to work for God’s glory, and to joyfully trumpet His word.
