God orchestrated it all. I was merely the vessel to be used by Him.

I prayed about where to begin this blog post as there is so much I could share. I felt led to start with the prayer I prayed at the end of 2013 asking God to let me be amazed by Him all of 2014.
Prayers for Healing
Both of my sons were diagnosed at birth with sickle thalassemia, a disease in the sickle cell family. Praise God they have not had the pain crisis that most kids living with disease experience. However, we found out through routine testing in 2012 that my younger son had a few silent strokes and there were some arteries on the right side of his brain that were constricted. After one year, the doctors discovered more constriction of those arteries by 66 percent, and that meant it was time to have the surgery they mentioned the year before.
I had been praying that the arteries would expand and allow the blood to flow freely like it needed to so there would be no more strokes. There were no more strokes. I felt like my prayers were answered because there was a way for the blood to flow. It just wasn’t the way I envisioned it. My son had the surgery on December 18, 2013 and was released from the hospital a day or so earlier than expected and has not stopped since. He played baseball all summer on a select team like a pro.
A Heavenly Bubble
After my son’s surgery, I was amazed by God tremendously. And I told Him I wanted to be amazed by Him all year flowing into 2014. And He has done just that. I was dealing with some things and needing some answers.
In May my mother and I went to my first women’s retreat away from home. While there, I was in such awe of God and the way He was moving in my life and the lives of the other women, I started saying this is like being in a heavenly bubble. It was 72 hours of God and us.
Conversation with God
After returning home, life set back in—and fast. I was immediately sick on the ride home. The next week God started speaking to me as I was pouring out to Him saying, “I want that feeling I had at the retreat.” He told me, “You know, Mary Kay Ash was a smart woman.”
Yes, she was, Lord. I sold Mary Kay for about 18 years. He said, “She pulled women together once a quarter and let them get filled up with ideas and praise. And when you left there, you felt like you could do anything–you could book, sell and recruit anyone–and you did.” Yes, I did! I was remembering that excitement I had and how I felt that same enthusiasm at the retreat.
Answering His Call
Then God said, “You will pull women together once a quarter and let me fill their cups.” I was done then. I told God I was not going to do that. Yes, that is the relationship we have. He tells me to do something, I tell Him no and then eventually He wins!
On month later at the end of June, I surrendered. God took over. He led me to Pallottine Renewal Center. When I came to visit the center, I prayed before getting out of the car because I had no money for down payment. I told God, “Ok, if this is your will, it is your bill” And it truly was His.
The staff was so gracious. Jamie, the coordinator, told me to take a couple of weeks to see if could generate any interest. I was elated! I could have skipped to the car. And the interest came and the women came.
The Heavenly Bubble Retreat
Twenty three women came to the Heavenly Bubble Retreat. God orchestrated it all. I was merely the vessel to be used by Him. The women did not want to leave. They could not believe how God spoke to them in the course of 24 hours. God not only amazed me this time–He amazed the women as well.
