St. Vincent’s vision of the Church was one of communion. He did not envision this as dominion of one group over another, but rather he invited all Christians to join as equals, regardless of background or social status to work together. This community would then come together to work toward the common goal of renewing faith and caring for those in need.
Oftentimes in our current churches and organizations, we can appear to others as exclusive or even oppressive. However unintentional, we sometimes give others the notion that they are not welcome in our “community”. How do we, as Christians, follow St. Vincent’s example more closely, and invite all who are faithful and willing, to work together for God’s glory?
