We are all the walking wounded, silently carrying our crosses and burdens, wondering who really sees our inner pain. This journey we are on can be difficult terrain to navigate alone, especially as we carry baggage… laden with past mistakes and worries for the future. How can we ever know for sure that our suffering is understood and that our tears are wiped clean?
We are assured of this when we trust in the one who suffered the most: the Savior who stretched out his arms on that wooden cross to carry the weight of all of humanity. Jesus paid the ultimate price, and his wounds were deep enough to absorb the entire world’s heartache. There can be no doubt that He understands about suffering, that He knows what it feels like to be abandoned and alone.
There is no sadness or pain that we experience that He does not feel with us, and His heart breaks for what breaks ours. So when we feel heavy laden and broken, we seek and then find solace in the arms of Jesus. He has promised to give rest to the weary, and His love and compassion will see us through our darkest hours. He has vowed to us that if we trust in Him, we are never, ever alone.
So in the times in your life when your burdens are too heavy, share them with Jesus. Pour out your heart and soul to the one who is always listening, always walking the journey with you. There is no tear you shed that He won’t wipe away, no cross you carry that He won’t take on His shoulders. Trust always in His divine mercy and grace, and in the knowledge that He heals all of our wounds.
