Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24
How often do you pray to God and thank Him for everything He has given you? If you are like me, I pray often. I find myself in dialogue with God throughout the day and night. I believe the need for dialogue is our natural connection to the Divine Source. Such communication is done in faith with the knowing that God listens, and loves us, regardless of where we are in our lives.
There are times when our prayers turn into petitions for help. Some people have told me that God didn’t answer their prayers, but my question to them has always been the same: Did you listen for His reply? Did you wait for a sign that God heard your prayers?
Years ago, I was in a place in my life where nothing that I did resulted in a positive change. I felt like a mouse in a maze desperately trying to find my way out of a terrible situation. What did I do? I turned the problem over to God.
I surrendered control over my situation and gave it to God to change my situation according to His Will. My prayers were specific. My prayer, too, included another request: Show me a sign. I needed to know God was listening, and had heard my petition for help.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. Jeremiah 29:12
God didn’t disappoint me. Within minutes of my prayers (I was driving and praying at the same time), I experienced a sudden thirst, so I decided to take the next exit off of the interstate hoping to find a place for something to drink.
I arrived at a convenience store. It was rather busy with people walking in and out of its doors, while others pumped gasoline into the tanks of their cars. I had to park my car on the side of the store because nothing was available in the front.
As I stepped onto a small sidewalk that wrapped around the store, I saw something shining brilliantly ahead of me. Whatever it was laying on the ground, sparkled in a beautiful, gold light. I was stunned once I recognized what it was.
There before me was a gold crucifix on a gold chain. The sun’s light was shining directly on the gold causing rays of radiant light to move upwards and outwards. The gold light moved like a pinwheel on the sidewalk.
I picked it up and instantly knew that God had heard my prayers. He not only sent me a sign, He was silently, and proactively, communicating with me.
My faith was renewed. In a matter of days, the situation I had spent months trying to handle had completely turned around. My life was once again in order thanks to God. My prayers had been answered.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Mathew 7:7
Whenever I meet challenges, I think back on the day God sent me a sign in gold. I know He was with me then, and I know He is with me now.
God is with you, too; now and forever. Whether you pray in gratitude, or say prayers petitioning Him, open up your heart and mind to receive His answers.
Look, too, for God’s signs in gold.
