“God looks on me individually, He calls me by name, He knows what I can do, what I can best be, what is my greatest happiness, and He means to give it to me.”
-Venerable John Henry Cardinal Newman
It is sometimes difficult to fathom that this enormous God we worship, this creator and caretaker of all of mankind, can possibly know each of us by name. Can this be feasible: to carry the weight of the entire world while at the same time shouldering the struggles and sorrows of the individual? God is so very mighty this way, both large and intimate at the same time.
For those who believe and trust in Him we take great comfort in knowing that He is devoted to each and every one of us uniquely. He recognizes the gifts He has bestowed upon us, the potential we have to reach for and accomplish our dreams, and ultimately the divine path we must walk to achieve our greatest happiness.
To know that we are loved this way is so very profound and fills us with both joy and peace. From the time before we were even born, He had a vision for our lives that would be abundant in blessings and happiness. God’s divine will is specific to each of us, and He celebrates in our delight. Listen closely for His voice; He is calling you by name.
